A 66-year-old woman was allegedly duped here in Maharashtra ₹11.45 lakh by some unidentified persons on the pretext of exchanging his old coins and currency notes, the police said.
An official of Kasarvadavali police station said on Sunday that these men had recently contacted the woman on social media and claimed that they were exchanging old coins. He offered to exchange his old coins and currency notes of ₹5 more ₹for 10 denominations ₹45 lakhs, the official said quoting the woman’s complaint.
Between 20 and 29 September this year, he contacted the woman several times and asked for money for service charge and GST. woman allegedly transferred ₹The accused provided the account number of 11.45 lakh, the official said.
However, when he did not receive the desired amount later, he approached the police, which on Saturday registered a case against unidentified persons under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Police said that no one has been arrested so far.
