Old photo of kebab recipe from Warren Hastings’ diary hits the internet

Let’s face it, things from the past can be pretty tricky. While some of these items may evoke feelings of nostalgia and attachment, others may have historical significance and represent important milestones or events in human history. These artifacts can give us a sense of connection to the past and help us understand how people lived and thought in earlier times. Recently, author Ira Mukhoti shared an old photograph of a kebab recipe from the personal diary of Warren Hastings, the first Governor General of Bengal.

Ira shared a picture of the kebab recipe on Twitter. In the photo, we can see a handwritten note which lists ingredients for the kebabs such as minced meat or keema, garlic, chillies, egg yolk, cream and more. Hastings also noted the process of making the dishes. “Mix well in 5 or 6 glasses of water, boil until dry in a saucepan. The tweet has so far garnered 77.5K views and 796 likes since being shared. Internet users were very interested about this old note of kebab recipe. One user wrote, “Excellent document. Does it have ‘kabab khetai’ written on it?”
