Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) on Monday, on its 67th foundation day, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up five Adarsh ​​Vidyalayas and a Skill Academy in their respective regions at Koira.
The corporation will spend Rs 208 crore to set up 5 institutes in OMC mining areas. It will also spend Rs 30 crore annually to run these institutions.
Congratulating the officers on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that this initiative will promote education and create a holistic environment for development. OMC has always pioneered a number of developmental initiatives that bring about positive change to improve the quality of life of the people. Its effort to support the state in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is highly commendable. Be it sports, health, education or peripheral development, OMCs have always laid down their focus for excellence,” the CM said.
He further said that OMC is growing as one of the largest and fastest growing mining companies in the country. The corporation has achieved a production of over 30 million tonnes in the last financial year with a turnover of Rs 17,000 crore. Naveen expressed hope that this number will definitely be higher in the current financial year, and will set an example for other PSUs.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the operation of 3 iron ore mines at Banspani, Unchabali and Khandbandha. He also launched 2 IT modules – Compliance Management System and Litigation Management System. 39 Junior Accountants and Electricians also received appointment letters and joined the organization.
