Omicron surge: See list of states where night curfew will be imposed

New Delhi India has been witnessing a rapid increase in the cases of coronavirus in the last one month. There is also a steady increase in the number of new coronavirus variants, Omicron, which was first discovered in South Africa.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed that 90% of the eligible population had been given the first dose of vaccine against the novel coronavirus.

He also informed that in the last few days around 1.5 crore children in the age group of 15-18 have been given the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19.

In India, even though the vaccination campaign is in progress, the number of cases of COVID is increasing, where more than one lakh new COVID-19 cases have been registered in the last 24 hours. The number of omicron cases in the country also crossed the 3000 mark and two deaths were also reported from this type of concern.

To curb this sharp rise in COVID cases, several states have imposed night curfews and weekend curfews, which restrict the movement of people at a time when mass gatherings are potential super spreaders.

Check out the list of states below

-Delhi- The DDMA A daily night curfew has been imposed between 10 pm and 5 am as part of a gradual response to the rapidly increasing number of cases in the National Capital

Delhi will also see weekend curfew, scheduled to begin between 10 p.m. on Friday through January 8 and 5 a.m. on Monday

-Maharashtra – A night curfew It has been imposed in the state between 9 pm and 6 am. The state has imposed section 144 in any other part of the state which is a tourist destination.

-West Bengal- The State A night curfew was imposed between 12 am and 5 am after restrictions were eased on New Year’s Eve, leading to a sharp rise in cases in the state.

-Tamil Nadu night curfew It is between 10 pm and 5 am in the state.

-Karnataka weekend and night curfew was declared in the state. Weekend curfew starting January 8th from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday

-Punjab – The state imposed night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.

Uttar Pradesh – From January 6, the night curfew has been increased from 10 pm to 6 am instead of 11 pm to 5 am.

-Assam State government Night curfew timings revised from 10 pm to 6 am from January 8

-Chhattisgarh – Night curfew will be in force from 10 pm to 6 am in districts with positivity rate of 4% or more.
