Deceased Bontu Jayaraj was persuading his son to give up the habit of drinking and living a luxurious lifestyle
A 24-year-old man allegedly beat his father to death with an iron rod while he was sleeping in his house at Vanpallipalem village under Uppalaguptam police limits in Konaseema area of East Godavari district.
The accused is the youngest among the three children of the deceased.
According to the police, Bantu Ravi allegedly took the extreme step after an argument with his father Bantu Jayaraj (58) over his drinking habits on Sunday night. Mr. Jayaraj was persuading the youth to give up alcohol addiction and luxury lifestyle.
Amalapuram Circle Inspector G. Suribabu told Hindu, “Mr. Ravi reached home on Sunday night in an inebriated state and had an argument with his father over his drinking habit. Later Mr. Ravi beat his father to death with an iron rod.”
The incident happened around midnight and Mr. Jayaraj was declared brought dead by the doctors at the area hospital in Amalapuram. Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
