On camera, US police officer pulls man from subway track before train arrives

Internet users praised the police officers for their quick action.

A dramatic video captured the moment two quick-acting officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) pulled a man from a subway track seconds before a train pulled into the station. Taking to Twitter, Commissioner of Police Keechant Sewell shared the video in which two policemen are seen springing into action after seeing a man falling on the platform and train tracks.

“The heroism of NY’s Finest always amazes me. To the officers of @NYPD25Pct who rescued a man from an oncoming train after he accidentally fell onto subway tracks in Manhattan yesterday – Courage is second nature. Hats off to these great cops Join me in doing!” Mr Sewell captioned the post.

According to new york postThe police were patrolling the platform on the south side when the man fell onto the tracks on the north side, police said. They then ran across the street and down the northbound subway stairs to rescue the man.

The video shows officers grabbing the man by his arms and legs and taking him to the stage. At the end of the clip, he lands safely and lets out a loud moan several times. The officials also jumped to safety just seconds before the oncoming train was about to exit the tunnel.

According to the outlet, police said the man who fell on the train tracks suffered minor injuries to his right hand and back. After the incident, he was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.

It is still unclear why the man fell, but police also said it was “accidental”. No other injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, internet users praised the police officers for their quick action, writing: “Good on the officer for that, but how my god did he have enough time to jog in a marathon, before Anyone else help this person?” A user wrote. Another said, “Gallant officers and civilians working together to save a life.”
