A police team raided Kabul’s house in Bethukandi on Friday evening and arrested him. He was taken to Silchar Sadar police station and was interrogated for hours. The police, however, did not divulge anything to the media citing investigation-related reasons, sources said.
SP (Cachar) Ramandeep Kaur said on Saturday that further investigation is on in the matter.
The district administration said that the current wave of floods, which ravaged Silchar, was caused by the breach of the embankment of Barak, and was the result of the action of some miscreants. During his visit to Silchar on 26 June to review the situation, Sarma also claimed that the floods in Silchar were a “man-made” disaster.
