Visakhapatnam district reported 51 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ended Sunday morning, taking the cumulative tally to 1,56,667. The death toll rose to 1,083 after one more person died of the infection. This is the ninth COVID death in the month.
During the same period, according to the bulletin, 78 persons were cured of coronavirus.
The latest number of cured and active cases are 1,54,564 and 1,020 respectively.
Meanwhile, out of 90 samples taken from the counting agents of ZPTC and MPTC elections in the district on Saturday, 21 tested positive. All the samples from Payakaropeta Primary Health Center (PHC) have reached the lab. The officials have made alternate arrangements to complete the counting process without any disruption.
