One dead, four trapped in Mohali under construction wall collapse

In Mohali, a laborer died after the wall of an under-construction showroom collapsed, while four are still trapped under the rubble. The showroom was under construction at Mohali City Center on Mohali Airport Road.

Eight laborers were buried under the debris in the incident, out of which four were pulled out and rushed to the hospital. The doctors could not save one of the rescued laborers and the condition of the other three is also critical.

The laborers were working to build a showroom in Mohali city centre. After the wall collapsed, other activists came to the aid of the victims and the police and fire services were informed.

The news has come in the midst of one such news from Delhi where a house collapsed Many people are feared trapped near Delhi’s Lahori Gate area and in this incident. Delhi Fire Services is leading the rescue operation with five tenders on the spot. So far five people have been rescued and admitted to the hospital.

The incident took place near Valmiki Mandir Farash Khana Lahori Gate at around 7.30 pm. Fire officials fear three-four more people trapped under the debris and efforts are on to bring them alive. National Disaster Response Team (NDRF) has also reached the spot to help in the rescue work.

The house collapsed amid the city’s second highest 24-hour rainfall since 2007 in October. Delhi received 74 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, down from 87.9 mm it received on October 18 last year.

The rains helped the city to have a better air quality index with AQI score around 48-50 during the day.
