South Indian playback singer Vani Jayaram has passed away at the age of 78. He died at his Chennai residence a few days after being awarded the Padma Bhushan.

Jayaram had completed 50 years as a playback singer in 2021. He made his Hindi film debut with Bhavya Miya’s Malhar composition, ‘Bole Re Paapi Hara’. doll (1971).
