OnePlus registers highest growth with 74% growth in smart TV shipments in India – Times of India

according to a Counterpoint Research According to the report, the smart TV market in India witnessed a year-on-year growth of 74 percent in the first half of 2022. The research firm suggests that small sized smart TVs and promotional offers retailers and brands in the below Rs 20,000 price segment attributed the growth of the smart TV market in the country.
The report states that the top five brands – Xiaomi, samsung, oneplusLG and tcl – Contributed 45 per cent to shipments. Of these five, Xiaomi Samsung led the market with a 13 percent share, followed by Samsung, which constituted 12 percent of the market in the second quarter of 2022.
OnePlus, which came third for the first time, registered the highest ever growth in the smart TV segment. The company saw a 123 percent year-on-year growth in shipments in the first half of the year. Anshika Jain, Senior Research Analyst, Counterpoint, says the popularity of OnePlus’ Y1 series of smart TVs with strong marketing efforts helped the company reach the third position.
Meanwhile, LG and TCL took the fourth and fifth positions with respective market shares of 7.5 per cent and 5 per cent.
competition Analysts further say that most of the launches in the second quarter of the year were in the 32-inch smart TV segment, which costs less than Rs 20,000. Shipments of 32-inch televisions grew by 94 percent year-on-year, with a market share of 47 percent in the second quarter of 2022.
Jain says that the smart TV segment in the country is growing as consumer preference for smart TVs is increasing and more affordable options are now available in the market. Analysts expect shipments to continue to grow in the future.
