5 seed Ones Jabeur admitted that Inga Swietake made life difficult for her in the women’s singles final of the 2022 US Open. On Saturday, September 10, 21-year-old Swietec won his first title by defeating Jabur 6- at Flushing Meadows. 2, 7-6 (7-5) at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The first set was completely one-sided, after which Sweetek took a 3-0 lead in the second set. However, Jabeur broke his opponent’s serve nine times and saved a championship point to take the second set into a tie-breaker.
Even in the tie-breaker, Jabeur went down 2-4 before winning three consecutive points. But Sweetek put on a strong performance and did not allow the Tunisian player to take the match into the deciding set.
“I want to thank the crowd for cheering me up. I really tried, but Iga didn’t make it easy for me. She deserved to win today. I don’t like you very much right now (laughs) But It is fine,” Jaboor was quoted as saying after the match.
“I know I will keep working hard and get this title soon.”

Earlier this year, Jabur qualified for her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, where she lost to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina. After losing one final after another, the 28-year-old hasn’t given up on his hopes of winning the Major.
“It means a lot. I tried to push myself to do more. Achieving major is one of my goals and hopefully I can inspire as many generations as possible,” she said.
Several stars, including Martina Navratilova and others, graced the stands during the match. Praising the four-time US Open champion, Jabeur said, “I am inspired by so many champions. Martina is here and she inspired us.
