Open investigation: ACB records Parambir Singh’s statement

The former top Mumbai police officer was suspended from service after several extortion cases were registered against him.

Anti Corruption Bureau has recorded the statement of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh With regard to the open investigation against him on a complaint lodged by a police inspector, an officer said on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

They said Singh appeared before the investigating officer at the ACB’s office in central Mumbai’s Worli on Tuesday afternoon.

The official said that he remained in the ACB office for about two hours during which his statement was recorded and later he was let go.

Singh was suspended from service after several cases of extortion were registered against him.

The official said the ACB had summoned him thrice earlier, but he did not appear citing various reasons.

This time, he was called to record his statement on February 2 (Wednesday), but he submitted a letter to the ACB saying that he had some court-related work on Wednesday and was available on Tuesday.

The officer said the investigating officer allowed Singh to appear before him on Tuesday and recorded his statement.

The ACB is conducting an open inquiry against Singh on the complaint of Police Inspector Anoop Dange, who leveled corruption allegations against a former top Mumbai police officer.
