The opposition parties are pressing for building a broad consensus on the ‘law and order crisis’ emerging in Punjab due to the activities of Amritpal Singh, chief of ‘Waris Punjab De’ organisation.

In an attempt to jeopardize the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, opposition parties are pushing for a broad consensus on the “law and order crisis” arising in the state due to the activities of the controversial Punjab chief. ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization, Amritpal Singh.

Amritpal and his supporters, some of them brandishing swords and guns, broke through barricades and entered the Ajnala police station on the outskirts of Amritsar last week. He took assurance from the police that the kidnapping accused Lovepreet Singh would be released.

On the eve of the budget session, former Speaker Rana KP Singh asked opposition parties to unite in attacking the government for failing to adequately respond to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Rana said in reference to Amritpal Singh, “Rising out of political affiliation, parties should rally public opinion against the hardline leader in one voice and take strict administrative action against him.”

He asserted that the state and the Center should evolve a joint strategy to control the law and order situation before it turns “out of control”. The state should sit together to resolve this issue before it goes out of control,” Rana said.

The Congress is planning massive protests across the state to pressurize the Bhagwant Mann government to act against Amritpal Singh. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring has written to the Akal Takht Jathedar, expressing hope that a 15-member committee will be formed to investigate the incident of Amritpal Singh and his supporters carrying Guru Granth Sahib ‘Saroop’ during the march to the police station. Will be done. Will recommend action in Ajnala.

Waring has also written to DGP Gaurav Yadav, warning the party to “take to the streets” if Amritpal Singh is not arrested and all those guilty of attacking police personnel at Ajnala police station in Amritsar are not arrested. Will be forced to. In his letter to the DGP, Waring reminded him of an earlier letter he had written “about the dangerous and nefarious activities” of the controversial preacher.

Other opposition parties, including the Akali Dal and the BJP, have increased the pressure on the Mann government. This comes as the police are yet to register an FIR in the Ajnala case, though six days have passed. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed concern over the law and order situation in the state during his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
