Opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha files nomination

Opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha today filed his nomination papers for the elections to be held on July 18.

Sinha handed over four sets of nomination papers to Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Modi, who is the returning officer for the presidential election.

Top opposition leaders including NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, DMK’s A Raja and NC leader Farooq Abdullah were present when Sinha filed his nomination papers.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader KT Rama Rao on Monday announced that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to support Yashwant Sinha, the joint opposition candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.

Taking to Twitter, KTR wrote, “Chairman @trspartyonline Mr KCR Garu has decided to extend support to the candidature of Mr @trspartyonline.Yashwant Sinha In the election of the President of India, Sir, along with our Members of Parliament, I will represent the TRS in the nomination today.

Earlier on Friday, Sinha promised to raise voice for farmers, workers, unemployed youth, women and all marginalized sections of the society if he wins the election.

In a letter to opposition parties on Friday, Sinha thanked him for unanimously choosing him as their common presidential candidate and assured them that he would follow the core values ​​and guiding ideals of the Constitution, without fear or favour. Will be honest.

“I am overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude to you and the leaders of all opposition parties for unanimously electing me as their general candidate for the presidential election to be held on July 18, 2022. I thank you for their trust and confidence I assure you – and the people of India – that, if I am elected, I will faithfully uphold the core values ​​and guiding ideals of the Indian Constitution, without fear or favour. In particular, as the custodian of the Constitution, I will not let the light of democracy and secularism be dimmed by the executive,” Sinha said in a letter.

Sinha was nominated as the general opposition candidate for the presidential election on June 21.

NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu She has filed her nomination papers only last week.

The election for the post of President of India is to be held on 18th July and the counting of votes will be done on 21st July, if required.
