While many offices and institutions were in work-from-home condition, restaurants were kept open for home delivery and take-away. And most of us preferred to resort to food apps like Zomato and Swiggy to order our favorite food items from nearby food joints. Guess what the most ordered foods were in 2021?! According to a report by Zomato, one of the most ordered food items was Momo. Zomato says that in 2021 more than 10 million momos were ordered through their app. This report was shared on Zomato’s Instagram handle. The post read, “Introducing the 2021 meme rewind and a bit about how India ordered”.

It has been told in the report that Mumbai’s famous vada pav Around 32 lakh people had ordered, while samosas got around 73 lakh orders.
In another post, Zomato drew a quirky comparison with the very popular Vicky Kaushal-Katrina Kaif wedding. He added, “Vicky and Katrina were the second most popular couple of 2021 – the first was Paneer Butter Masala and Butter Naan. They were ordered together over 1.1 million times!”
But what remained unstoppable was the biryani – the delicacy of “Ek Bar Phir” topped the list as “India’s Top Dish in 2021”. Zomato said, “We delivered 2 biryanis every second.”
The food-tech giant further shared that in 2021 (in India) the biggest order was placed by someone from Ahmedabad – it was a meal worth Rs 33k! He is not everything. Another person named Sweta ordered 12 ice creams in “one day”.
