Over 5 lakh complaints filed against e-com firms since April 2019: Govt

Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Ashwini Kuma Choubey in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today said that from April 2019 to November 2021, a total of 5,12,919 complaints have been registered against e-commerce companies in the National Consumer Helpline.

Maharashtra registered the maximum number of complaints at 64,924, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 63,265. Delhi registered 50,522 complaints, while West Bengal registered 38,582 complaints against e-commerce companies.

In this regard, the CCPA has issued an advisory to the industry associations on October 1, 2021, requesting them to give wide publicity to these provisions and ask the members to ensure their compliance.
