Over 6 lakh applicants for 70,000 seats – Delhi University launches its admission portal

New Delhi: Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh on Monday said that over six lakh students are competing for the 70,000 seats being offered by Delhi University for the academic year 2022-23.

The academician said that classes are likely to start from the first week of November.

To avoid the problem of high cut-offs and to give equal opportunity to all the students, this year admissions are being conducted in all central colleges including Delhi University through Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

A total of 6 lakh 14 thousand students have selected Delhi University as the higher education institution of their choice in the CUET registration. 40 percent increase from last year. The Central University has 79 undergraduate programs and 206 Bachelor of Arts combinations across 67 colleges this year.

On Monday, the university started the common seat allocation system (CSAS) PortalWhere students can register for undergraduate admission till October 3.

The first phase will involve filling the application form, after that in the second phase students will choose their programs and fill their preferences. The second phase will start only after the declaration of CUET (UG) results.

application

The CSAS 2022 admission process will be conducted in six phases. The student will need a CUET registration number for the application form and after providing the registration number their personal details will be automatically integrated in the CSAS portal. After this the students will have to submit the marks of the subjects which they have passed in class 12, after which they will submit the documents and pay the registration fee.

The CSAS application fee for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates is Rs 250, while SC/ST/PWBD candidates will have to pay Rs 100. There will be an additional fee of Rs 100 for applying against ECA/Sports Supernumerary Quota. VC said in the press conference.

Students can choose as many programs as they want to take admission in. However, they have to confirm the specific schedule on the basis of their CUET UG 2022 Merit Score.

Delhi University will release its merit list, which is same for all colleges, on the basis of which allotment of seats will be done.

University officials insist that students fill more and more preferences for programs and college selection to increase their chances of admission. The admission process will also give them an option to ‘upgrade’ their allotted seat through which they can choose a more renowned college than the one allotted to them.

The university will also have the option of “mid-entry” – a window through which students who fail to apply for CSAS within the stipulated time can do so by paying a fee of Rs 10,000.

There will also be a round of “spot admission” in the university after the second round of seat allotment to fill the vacant seats. Students who could not get admission in any college can apply for it.

academic session

The first round of admission is expected to start from October 10.

Delhi University is expected to start the new term by November 1, and conduct the first semester examinations at the end of the 180-day teaching period. The VC said, “We are expecting the admission process to be smooth and transparent. We will try to admit maximum number of students in the first round. The academic session should tentatively start from November 1.
