Over 8,000 government officials promoted by the center

New Delhi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday said that the Personnel Ministry has given one-time promotion to over 8,000 government officials belonging to the three major secretariat services. He said orders have been issued for “mass promotion” of these employees belonging to Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Central Secretariat Stenographer Service (CSSS) and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS).

A statement issued by the Personnel Ministry said that out of the total 8,089 promoted employees, 4,734 are from CSS, 2,966 from CSSS and 389 from CSCS. (Also Read: PPF, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Senior Citizen Scheme, Others: Here’s How Much Interest They Pay)

Minister of State for Personnel (MoS) Singh said that orders for massive promotion of these employees related to CSS, CSSS and CSCS have been issued after several rounds of high-level meetings chaired by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). by him in the last two months.

The minister said that even legal experts were consulted extensively as some orders were subject to the outcome of pending writ petitions.

Singh said it is disappointing for government employees to get retirement from service without their proper promotion and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for such a decision.

The minister also, on several occasions, met delegations of officers of the Central Secretariat and shrugged off the issue, as he believed that these three services-? CSS, CSSS and CSCS – The Central Secretariat is the backbone of the administrative functioning.

Singh also recalled that three years ago, the DoPT had done massive promotions of around 4,000 officers at various levels in various departments, which was widely appreciated.

Many of these promotion orders were also issued, subject to the outcome of the pending writ petitions, he recalled.

Singh said that the secretariat services are an essential tool of governance, as the notes and drafts prepared by them form the basis of government policies as proposals pass through various stages in the government hierarchy.

The Central Secretariat Service Officers’ Association is also opposing the delay in his promotion, claiming that it is causing him irreparable financial loss.

CSS Forum, an association of CSS officers, has recently written to the Secretary, DoPT in support of their demand.
