Padma Lakshmi is Tamilian and she is a big fan of South Indian food. Today, she has shared the recipe for a lesser South Indian dish that not many people know about, it is called Chow Chow Curry.

How to make South Indian Style Chow Chow Curry | chow chow vegetable

Chow Chow, also known as Chayote, comes from the gourd family. It is similar to squash and is quite a popular dish among South Indians. To make Chow Chow Curry or Chow Chow Curry, first you have to prepare the vegetables. Chop the chayote, tomato, onion and ginger.

Heat oil in a pan and let the cumin and mustard seeds crackle. Add curry leaves, onions and tomatoes and fry. Add salt, turmeric powder and Kashmiri red chili powder. Once the vegetable is cooked, the curry is ready!
