Islamabad: Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi Has traveled to London to complete rehab on his injured knee before October t20 world cup in Australia, pakistan cricket board said on Monday.
Afridi injured his right knee ligament while fielding in a Test match in Sri Lanka last month. This left-arm fast bowler was not only dropped from the current round Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates but he will also miss the seven-match T20I series against England in Pakistan next month.
Afridi traveled with the team to the Netherlands for a three-match ODI series earlier this month as the PCB wanted him to continue his rehabilitation program with a national team doctor and physiotherapist.
He then traveled with the team to the UAE to continue his rehab programme, but now the PCB has decided to send the fast bowler to London, in the hope that he will be fit in time for the T20 World Cup. .
“Shaheen Shah Afridi is in need of undisturbed, dedicated knee specialist care and London offers some of the best sports medicine and rehabilitation facilities in the world,” PCB Chief Medical Officer Najibullah Soumro said in a statement. “The medical department will receive daily feedback on his progress in London and we are confident that Shaheen will be fully fit ahead of the T20 World Cup.”
