The final of the T20 World Cup will be played between Pakistan and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. Ahead of the summit clash, one question on everyone’s mind is about the weather and whether the day will be a full 40 overs game. Rain is forecast to disrupt the game, and ominous signs for the summit clash. According to Accuweather, there is a 52 percent chance of rain at 7 PM Melbourne Time (1:30 PM IST). At 2:30 PM IST the chance of rain reduces to 49 percent.
But at around 3:30 PM IST (9 PM Melbourne Time) once again there is a chance of rain and it has reached 59 percent. Now, it needs to be seen whether the game is possible on Sunday or whether the reserve day (Monday) comes into play to decide the winner for the World Cup.
On Saturday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced some changes in the playing conditions for the final.
“The Event Technical Committee (ETC) has increased the provision for additional playing time on the Reserve Day from the original provision of two hours (Clause 13.7.3 of the Playing Conditions) to four hours if more time is required to complete the Get matches and results,” an official release said.
For the final, 10 overs per side are required to constitute a match in the knockout stage.
The release said, “It may be noted that 10 overs per side are required to constitute a match in the knockout stage and every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled match day, with any necessary deficiencies,” the release said.
“Only if the minimum number of overs required to make a match cannot be bowled on a Sunday, the match will go to the Reserve Day. Play on the Reserve Day will begin at 15h00 (9:30 AM IST) and play will continue as scheduled match day,” it added.

30 minutes of extra time is available for matches on Sundays, while an additional four hours of extra time is available for the completion of matches on Mondays.
A Super Over will be played if the scores are tied at the end of the match and if weather intervenes and the Super Over is not completed, Pakistan and England will be declared joint winners.
