The Palestinian Health Ministry said a Palestinian man was killed on Sunday after an Israeli army shot dead during a clash in a village in the occupied West Bank.

According to the ministry, two Palestinians were seriously injured in clashes on Saturday in Karawat Bani Hassan near the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

It said that 30-year-old Mujahid Dawood died in hospital.

The army said in a statement that “suspects threw stones at soldiers” who responded to a “violent riot” with live fire.

According to the United Nations, more than 100 Palestinian fighters and civilians have been killed since the start of the year, the heaviest toll in the West Bank in nearly seven years.

The violence comes amid an increase in daily raids and attacks on Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.

The expansion of Israeli military operations, particularly in the northern West Bank, follows deadly attacks inside Israel earlier this year.

Israel has occupied the West Bank since the 1967 Six-Day War.

The Israeli Defense Ministry’s body responsible for civil affairs in the Palestinian territories, COGAT, announced on Sunday that it had withdrawn permission to enter Israel for 164 family members of “terrorists from the Nablus region”.

“Terrorists hiding among the civilian population of Nablus must understand that their identities are known to security services and that their choice to follow the path of terrorism will affect their families who will no longer be able to live in Israel,” COGAT chief Ghassan Allen said in a statement.
