Dr Mukesh Veer Singh, Head Pediatric of the hospital told TOI, “The incident happened around 12:30 am (late Sunday night) when an electrical socket caught fire, and also sparked off near ward number 4 of the hospital premises. . “We immediately shifted around 10 children undergoing treatment from ward number 4 to another ward, to ensure the safety and security of around 10 children, apart from cutting off the power supply,” he said.
As the spark caused smoke and panic among the children and their attendants, the hospital authorities preferred to switch off the ward’s power supply and called the electricians and fire department officials to take further action accordingly. Fire department officials said that the electrical socket and panel caught fire and resulted in spark due to suspected overload and accordingly corrective measures have been initiated.
