The film follows an older couple seeking divorce after living together for 50 years
Veteran actors Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia are all set to headline the upcoming romantic comedy drama “Jab Khuli Kitab” directed by actor-filmmaker Saurabh Shukla.
Supported by Applause Entertainment in association with Shukla and producer Naren Kumar’s Shoe Strap Films, the project is a stage-to-screen adaptation of Shukla’s play of the same name.

According to the makers, “Jab Open Book” features an elderly couple seeking divorce after living together for 50 years.
“The film deals with the dysfunction of relationships and its effects on the family, with a dollop of humor and heart. The high energy rivalries, and multi-generational family dynamics at the fore also make this a rare Hindi comedy that is both universal and intimate,” read a note from the makers.
Actor Aparshakti Khurana will play a pivotal role in the film.
Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said that the film has a lovely and exciting idea at its core, which sets it apart from other romances.
“This film disrupts the normal ups and downs and shows how love at any age can become a messy and fiery affair.
“The screenplay is sharp, attentive and hilarious in equal measure, complemented by our amazing ensemble cast led by the remarkable Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia. We are delighted to collaborate with Saurabh Shukla and Shoe Strap Films for this special film,” said Nair.
Shukla said that ‘Jab Khuli Kitab’ is close to his heart and he is thrilled to have stalwarts like Kapoor and Kapadia in the lead roles.

Actors Sameer Soni and Nauheed Sirusi also join the ensemble cast.
According to Kumar, “Jab Open Book” deals with the “love-hate relationship” of a couple.
“It’s very quirky, funny and emotional. The real star of the film is its script and these veteran actors put more magic in it. I think it will relate to masses and classes alike. We do our part under Shoe Strap Films. Really excited to collaborate with Applause Entertainment to produce the first film and we feel this is our first step towards making many more films together.”
Set in Uttarakhand, the film recently completed its start-to-finish schedule in Ranikhet.
