Opposition leaders give adjournment notice in Parliament to discuss Adani stock route issue

Leaders of several opposition parties on Friday moved adjournment notices in both Houses of Parliament demanding an immediate discussion on the Adani group issue and the border situation with China.

Prominent among the MPs who have given adjournment notices are Congress chief whip in Rajya Sabha Naseer Hussain and party whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore.

Apart from this, BRS leader K Keshav Rao and Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi have also given notice under Rule 267 on the same issue.

Rule 267 allows for adjournment of the day’s business for debate on a point suggested by a member.

In the Rajya Sabha, Congress MPs Ami Yagnik, Pramod Tiwari, Kumar Ketkar and Neeraj Dangi have also given similar notices under Rule 267.

“…this House suspends the relevant rules relating to Zero Hour and Question Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the issue of frauds in investments by LIC, SBI, public sector banks and other financial institutions, which have lost market value jeopardizing the hard-earned savings of crores of Indians,” Mr. Hussain said in his notice.

In his notice, Mr Rao said, “The report highlights the dangers to which the Indian people and economy are subject and requires urgent discussion in the House postponing today’s business list.” PTI
