Parliament: Canadian MP Chandra Arya’s speech in Kannada in Parliament praises him – Times of India

Bengaluru: A Speech in Canada Parliament by a Canadian parliamentarian in his mother tongue Kannada Has gone viral on social media, earning praise for his love for his mother tongue.
Chandra AryaThe MP from Nepean hails from Dwarlu, a small village in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district in Karnataka.
“I spoke in the Canadian Parliament in my mother tongue (the first language) Kannada. This beautiful language has (a) long history and is spoken by about 50 million people. This is the first time Kannada is spoken in any parliament in the world India.,” Arya tweeted along with a minute-long video of his speech in Kannada.
His speech was given a standing ovation by some of his Parliament colleagues.

“Respected Speaker, I am happy to have the opportunity to speak in Kannada in the Parliament of Canada. It is a proud moment for 5 crore Kannada people that a man born in Dwaralu village of Sira Taluk, Tumkur (Tumakuru) district of an Indian state Karnataka, elected as a Member of Parliament in Canada, has spoken Kannada,” he said in his Kannada speech.
Noting that the Kannada people of Canada celebrated the Kannada ‘Rajyotsava’ in the Parliament of Canada in 2018, he said, “I would like to end my statement with a few words from the song written by (a) Rashtrakavi Kuvempu and Natasarvabhauma Sung by Dr Rajkumar-Elladaru Iru Anthadaru Iru, Andendigu ni Kannadavagiru (Wherever you be, however you always be a Kannadiga. Thank you Speaker.”

Karnataka Chief Minister applauding Arya’s speech Basavaraj Bommai He said that he has spread the excellence of Kannada globally.
He tweeted, “Heartfelt congratulations to Chandra Arya for proving that no matter how big a person gets in his life, he should always remember his roots. Eladaru Iru Enthadaru Iru, Andendigu Ni Kannadavagiru.”
Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani said, “It is an absolute honor to see our country’s language, Kannada, the language spoken in the Canadian Parliament. It fills all of us with great pride.”
Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar said, “It gives me pleasure to see our great Kannada language spoken in the Canadian Parliament. Shri Chandra Arya, Kannada people all over the world should hoist the flag of our mother tongue high.”
Arya recently urged the Canadian people and government to recognize the difference between the ‘swastika’, an ancient and auspicious symbol for Hindus, and the 20th-century Nazi symbol ‘Hakenkreuz’, pointing out that there is a difference between the two. There is no similarity.
