The Center is expected to introduce two bills in Parliament on the 13th day of the monsoon session. While the Lok Sabha will consider the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022, the Upper House will consider passing the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 and the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, according to Wednesday’s legislative act. Under Rule 193, the need to promote sports in India and the steps taken by the government in this regard is also to be discussed in the Lok Sabha.

Anti-Doping Bill: Union Minister Anurag Thakur proposed that to provide for the constitution of a National Anti-Doping Agency to regulate anti-doping activities in sports and to give effect to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization International Convention against Doping in Sports. The Bill, and such other obligations and commitments thereunder, for compliance with and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto, as passed by the Lok Sabha, shall be considered.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied in Rajya Sabha On the much-awaited debate on inflation on the 12th day of the monsoon session on Tuesday. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed questions on the continuous depreciation of the rupee and said there has been “no depreciation” of the Indian currency. The Finance Minister said that the Indian currency has “appreciated itself”, even after several factors affecting the world economy.

He said that the Indian economy is much better than its peer groups and developed economies. However, she said that no one was in denial about the price hike. Accusing the opposition of politicizing the issue, the Finance Minister said that they are trying to make up a story that the poor person is not being given anything out of the cess and duties collected by the Centre.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha passed the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2021 after a debate in which several opposition MPs highlighted the classification of insects, invasive species and the lesser role of state governments. DMK MP Thalikakottai Balu also questioned the efficiency of the government’s reservation and social justice policies.
