The proceedings began at 2 pm instead of 11 am on the sixth day of the ongoing monsoon session. Draupadi Murmu’s swearing-in ceremony as the 15th President of India at Parliament House on Monday.

On the work listed for today, the Lok Sabha is set to consider and pass the Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022, while the External Affairs Minister seeks to move weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems (Prohibition of Prohibition). So far, Both the houses have failed to do any important work since the commencement of the session. On 18 July the opposition protested and demanded a discussion on GST on essential food items, high inflation and price rise. According to officials, during the first week of the ongoing session in the Rajya Sabha, only 27 per cent and in the Lok Sabha 16 per cent were due to continuous disruption of business.

The ongoing session will conclude on August 12.

Lok Sabha adjourned immediately after sitting, proceedings have resumed in Lok Sabha. Earlier, the lower house met at 2 pm, but the speaker adjourned the proceedings following uproar by the opposition over price hike and other issues.

Sensitizing stakeholders in civil aviation sector to give priority to firefighters: Government

In a written reply to a question on Agnives, the Minister of Civil Aviation has told the Rajya Sabha that the Ministry is sensitizing all the stakeholders in the civil aviation sector to give preference to Agniveers in employment.

“After four years of military service, Agniveers are expected to be fit, disciplined and motivated professionals. Many of them, especially those involved in aircraft maintenance, flight safety, air-cargo, supply chain, administrative, IT and drones etc. will have valuable experience which will be of significant relevance to the aviation industry,” the minister said.

Lok Sabha adjourned till 3 pm after Rajya Sabha

As members of the opposition continued to raise slogans against the Center and demand a discussion on the price hike, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged the MPs not to violate the rules of the House. Stating that the Center is ready for discussion, the Speaker said that no member who brings a placard to the House will be allowed to take part in the proceedings.

However, several MPs staged a sit-in in the Well with placards and raised slogans, following which the House was adjourned till 3 pm.
