Partly cloudy weather forecast in the city

Delhi is likely to remain partly cloudy on Tuesday with chances of thunder and lightning. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday was recorded at 27.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.

According to data shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the relative humidity stood at 57 per cent at 8:30 am on Tuesday.

On Monday, there was a slight drop in the maximum temperature in Delhi due to partly cloudy weather, although it was still two to four degrees above normal.

Delhi’s base station Safdarjung Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. It was 45.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is the highest temperature so far this year.

The MeT office has forecast partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder and lightning later in the day on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 41 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD data, the minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be 28 degrees Celsius and 43 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Wednesday.

On Sunday, Delhi had witnessed a scorching heat of up to 49.2 degrees Celsius in north-west Delhi’s Mungeshpur and 49.1 degrees Celsius in Najafgarh in south-west parts of the city.

The IMD on Monday said that the temperature will start rising again on Wednesday and may reach the 45 degree mark on Friday.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning in some parts of the city on Friday.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the poor (277) category at around 9.30 am.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
