Congress office bearers demonstrated against inflation in Patna on Friday

Patna: Congress Workers and activists took to the streets in the city on Friday as part of the party’s nationwide protest against the Center over the issue of inflation, unemployment and GST on food items. Congress workers, led by their state president Madan Mohan Jha, also tried to march to the Raj Bhavan before being detained by the police.
Congress workers can be seen outside Sadaqat Ashram holding placards and raising slogans against the NDA government at the Centre. He was detained by the police barely 500 meters from the party office. Sixty-eight party leaders were detained and kept at the police station for nearly two hours.
Jha pulled up the district administration for detaining Congress leaders and workers. “The party will not allow this autocratic government led by the BJP to inflict atrocities on common people by increasing the prices of essential products and failing to check unemployment, crime and corruption,” he said. Party’s Kadwa MLA Shakeel Ahmed Khan said apart from the price hike and unemployment, the protest was also against the undemocratic style of functioning of the NDA government at the Centre. “The government is misusing all the agencies to malign the image of the opposition leaders. They should know that the opposition plays a big role in a democracy,” he said.
Party’s state spokesperson Rajesh Rathore said such protests would continue. “GST on food items in the midst of inflation has added to the hardships of the common people,” he said.
Congress working president Shyam Sundari Singh Dheerajmlc Prem Chandra MishraMLA Izharul Hussain, Afaq Alam and Pratima Kumari Das And former minister Awadhesh Kumar Singh also participated in the protest.
