Patna The junction already has four escalators for passengers. It has 10 platforms, with at least 280 passenger trains operating daily, either originating from or passing through the station.
According to ECR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Birender Kumar, the Rajendra Nagar terminal, which has been declared as one of the best railway stations in terms of cleanliness in the Indian Railways, will have three more lifts. A pair of escalators and lifts are already operational to cater to the needs of the passengers.
Railways has taken up development projects at various stations to ensure more facilities to the passengers at a time when there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers at all the major stations under ECR jurisdiction. The CPRO said that railways have provided escalators at 31 stations and lifts at 27 stations in ECR, while work is underway to install 14 escalators and 49 lifts at other stations.
Apart from Patna and Rajendra Nagar Terminals, Patliputra Junction, Ara, Buxar, Gone, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Dhanbad, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur and Darbhanga till now. Railways has decided to install six escalators in Dhanbad, two each in Hajipur and Muzaffarpur. He said that the process of installation of escalators would be completed during the financial year 2022-23.
Railways has expedited the completion of installation of 49 more lifts including Patna (4), Rajendra Nagar Terminal (3). sasaram (3), one more Mokama in Dehri-on-Sone, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Anugrah Narayan Road, Sonpur, Barauni, Khagaria, Darbhanga, Ara, Danapur, Raxaul, Narkatiaganj, Jaynagar, Bettiah, Madhubani, two in Dhanbad- Two, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose GomohParasnath, Singrauli and Daltonganj stations under ECR, the CPRO said, Railways will commission lifts at Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Sonpur and Darbhanga stations in the current financial year 2022-23.
