PayCM controversy: Congress Karnataka chief challenges government to take action against him

Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar has challenged the BJP-led government in the state to take action against him and former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for “PayCM” T-shirts after reports suggested that several party workers was arrested for wearing a T-shirt. ‘India couple travel’.

Talking about the issue, Shivakumar said, “Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah and I and other leaders wearing ‘PCM’ T-shirts will participate in the Bharat Jodi Yatra. Let’s see what the BJP will do.”

He alleged that several cases have been registered against Congress workers for wearing clothes “pecm” “We are not afraid of it (matters)” in T-shirt during India pair visit in Gundlupet.

A Congress worker was forced to take off his “PECM” T-shirt on Saturday while participating in the Bharat Jodi Yatra, and an FIR was also lodged against him at the Chamarajanagar police station.

Talking about the Bharat Jodi Yatra, Shivakumar called it a ‘people’s programme’, which connects the minds rather than a party event. “We are trying to find answers to the problems and give courage to the worried people,” he said.

Karnataka Congress launched PayCM campaign against Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai by pasting PayCM poster with a QR code and 40 percent accepted message here.

This was allegedly done to accuse the Bommai-led BJP government of charging 40 per cent commission on public works. Scanning the QR code took the person to the Congress-run “40 percent commission government” website where people would be asked to register their complaints against the CM.

The Congress and the BJP have been at loggerheads over corruption allegations since the Karnataka government dismissed the allegations made by the Congress as politically motivated.

Talking about the PayCM campaign, Shivakumar said, “Government has drowned in 40% commission. All sections including farmers are suffering. On one side there is corruption and unrest, on the other side there is problem of farmers and unemployment. The atmosphere has been created.

The state Congress president criticized the BJP for defamation and baseless criticism and alleged that the development of the Congress was not acceptable to the saffron party. “The BJP is doing petty politics to divert the attention of the people. They are criticizing us even though it has dead rats on its plate,” he said.
