Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma arrested for hitting Delhi Police DCP’s car; out on bail

Sharma was driving a Jaguar Land Rover which allegedly rammed the vehicle of DCP (South District) Benita Marie Jacker outside The Mother’s International School on Aurobindo Marg.

Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma was arrested by the Delhi Police last month and later released on bail for an alleged incident of rash driving. According to the FIR, Sharma was driving a Jaguar Land Rover, which allegedly rammed the vehicle of DCP (South District) Benita Marie Jacker outside The Mother’s International School on Aurobindo Marg. The incident happened on February 22. According to media reports, a case was registered against him under Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code.

“It is submitted that on 22.02.22 information was received about a car colliding by a car near Mother International School, Aurobindo Marg. The protesting vehicle hit the complainant’s car from behind and fled. A case of negligence and negligent driving was registered on Deepak Kumar’s complaint. On investigation, the offending vehicle was identified and its driver Vijay Shekhar Sharma was arrested after identification and released on bail. Both the vehicles DL 1 CU 9321 and the offending vehicle HR 98 C 0197 were seized and mechanically inspected. According to Delhi Police, investigation is on.
