Air India urination incident: The man who allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger on a New York-Mumbai flight last November was arrested from Bengaluru on Saturday. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has assured prompt action in the matter.

Speaking to ANI, Bhattacharjee said, “The incident happened after lunch. He (accused) had four drinks and then was asking me the same question many times. I finished lunch, told the flight attendant to keep an eye on him.”

After the incident, the co-passengers went to the senior stewardess and asked her to give another seat to the old lady, but she refused saying she would have to take permission from the captain, Bhattacharjee told ANI.

“The only option for him was to go to first class as business class was full, they (flight crew) cleaned his seat and put blankets on the seat which smelled of urine. They could have given Shankar Mishra’s seat but did nothing to pacify the agitated passengers.”

A Delhi court on Saturday sent Mishra to judicial custody for 14 days while rejecting the police’s plea for remand. On January 4, the police had registered an FIR against her on a complaint given by the woman to Air India.

The airline’s CEO on Saturday issued a Apologies for handling the incident And said that four cabin crew and one pilot have been de-roasted and the policy of serving liquor on flights is being reviewed.

Further, Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson listed the steps taken by the management on the November 26 incident.

He listed some initiatives that can strengthen the security of air passengers. These steps include launching a comprehensive education program to strengthen staff awareness and compliance with policies for handling incidents and unruly passengers, and better equipping crew to assist those affected empathetically Could

In addition, he said the airline would review its policy on serving alcohol in flight. He said Air India would also improve the “robustness” of its incident reporting process.
