Retired Brazilian soccer star Pele has been moved out of intensive care as he recovers from surgery to remove a tumor from his colon.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, 80, was in good clinical condition and will remain in Albert Einstein Hospital “from now on while recovering in his room”, the Sao Paulo facility said in a statement on Tuesday.
Pele said he was ready to play “90 minutes more extra time” after leaving intensive care.
“Don’t think for a minute that I haven’t read the thousands of loving messages I’ve received here,” Pele wrote on Instagram.
