Pentagon chief Austin says he has tested positive for Covid-19 – Times of India

Washington: Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said on Sunday that he had tested positive COVID-19 And was feeling mild symptoms during the quarantine at home.
In a statement Sunday night, Austin said he plans to participate in important meetings and discussions “to the extent possible” over the coming week. He said Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks would represent him in appropriate cases.
Austin said he last met President Joe Biden on December 21, more than a week before experiencing symptoms, and had tested negative on the morning of that day.
“I have informed our leadership team about my positive test result, as well as the president,” Austin said. “My staff has started contact tracing and testing of all the people with whom I have come in contact in the last one week.”
Austin, 68, said he was complete vaccination And got the booster in October. He said he requested a test on Sunday morning after experiencing symptoms at home on leave and, considering the results, planned to be in quarantine for five days, as per the guidelines.
