People of Adampur want son Bhavya to contest by-polls: BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi

BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi on Thursday said that the people of Adampur assembly constituency want his son to contest next month’s by-election from Bhavya seat and he has conveyed this public sentiment to the party.

Talking to reporters in Panchkula after the party meeting, the BJP leader said that there was a detailed discussion on Adampur by-election and upcoming panchayat elections in the state. The date of Panchayat elections is likely to be announced on Friday.

“I have conveyed the sentiments of the people of Adampur. They want Bhavya to contest from this segment this time. I have placed it before the party and they have to take the final call. The meeting was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Home Minister Anil Vij, state BJP chief OP Dhankhar and party’s Haryana affairs in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb.

Bishnoi’s resignation as a Congress MLA in August had necessitated a by-election for Adampur seat in Hisar district. He later joined the BJP on 4 August. The bypoll is going to be a litmus test for Bishnoi, younger son of former chief minister late Bhajan Lal, as the seat has been his stronghold for the last five decades.

“Whenever elections are held in Adampur, it is not about Kuldeep, Bhajan Lal or Bhavya, it is Adampur Khand versus others,” Bishnoi said. “I have toured Adampur extensively and like before, people are showering their love and blessings. After a gap of 26 years, we (Bhajan Lal family) are fighting this election while in the government. And people know that if BJP wins, development works will accelerate.

Bhavya, who unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Hisar, quit the Congress in August.
