Petrol and diesel price in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and other cities on August 17 – Times of India

Petrol and diesel prices were again left untouched by the oil marketing companies on 17 August. Recently, the Maharashtra government announced a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per liter and Rs 3 per liter respectively. This reduction in VAT will cost the state exchequer Rs 6,000 crore annually. Fuel prices remained stable in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and other cities since May 21, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 per liter and Rs 6 per liter respectively .
Today the price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per liter, while the price of diesel in Delhi is Rs 89.62 per litre. Petrol in Mumbai today costs Rs 106.31 per liter and diesel is priced at Rs 94.27 per liter.

Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday morning after hitting a 6-month low in the previous trading session. According to Reuters, Brent crude futures were trading at $92.47 a barrel, while WTI crude was at $86.80 a barrel.
