Petrol, diesel prices hiked once again

With this hike, petrol is now priced at Rs 100 or more in all state capitals, while diesel has touched the mark in over a dozen states.

After two days of calm, petrol and diesel prices were again hiked by 35 paise a liter on Wednesday, taking prices across the country to new highs.

Petrol price hiked in Delhi highest level As per the price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, ₹106.19 per liter in Mumbai and ₹112.11 per liter.

In Mumbai, diesel now comes for ₹102.89 per litre; Whereas in Delhi its price is ₹ 94.92.

The rates have been increased without any change for two days. Earlier, the prices were hiked for four straight days. 35 paise per litre.

With this hike, petrol is now priced at Rs 100 or more in all state capitals, while diesel has touched the mark in over a dozen states. Diesel crossed the Rs 100 mark in Panaji and Ranchi.

The most expensive fuel is in the border town of Ganganagar in Rajasthan where petrol comes at Rs 118.23 per liter and diesel at Rs 109.04.

This is the 17th increase in petrol prices and the 20th increase in diesel prices since the end of the three-week long hiatus in rate revision in the last week of September.

While the price of petrol is already above Rs 100 per liter in most parts of the country, diesel rates in more than a dozen states/UTs including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh crossed that level. , Bihar, Kerala, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Goa and Ladakh.

Prices vary from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes.

International benchmark Brent crude is trading at $84.43 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time in seven years.

A month ago, Brent was trading at USD 73.92.

Being a net importer of oil, India keeps petrol and diesel prices at par with international prices.

The rise in international oil prices ended a three-week hiatus in rate revision on September 28 for petrol and September 24 for diesel.

Since then, the rate of diesel has increased by Rs 6.50 per liter and that of petrol by Rs 5.

Earlier, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 11.44 per liter between May 4 and July 17. The rate of diesel was increased by Rs 9.14 during this period.
