UP Yoddha defeated Puneri Paltan 50-40 by raiding Surendra Gill on Monday in a high scoring match of the eighth season of Pro Kabaddi League.

Gill (21 points) and Pradeep Narwal (10 points) scored Super 10 runs for Yoddha in a match that contained several defensive errors.

Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat had Super 10s for Pune, but they were not helped by a stuttering defense that conceded too many points.

The first half was a high-scoring affair with just one empty raid in the first five minutes.

Pradeep Narwal started the proceedings with a three-point super raid and certainly set the tone for the other attackers.

Inamdar and Goyat together helped Pune get their first all out in the 10th minute, but Yoddha made a quick comeback.

It was raining super raids from both sides and Gill’s three-point effort with seven minutes to spare helped the Yoddha get an ‘all out’.

Both the left corners – Pune’s Vishal Bhardwaj and Yoddha’s Sumit – had an error-prone night and got too many points in the first half to end 20-20.

Yoddha started the second half brilliantly and Gill got off to an aggressive start in his raid.
His four-figure Super Raid in the fifth minute paved the way for another ‘All Out’ to help Yoddha take a seven-point lead.

He and Pradeep Narwal took away points from Pune and were eventually ‘all out’ in the 10th minute.

Yoddha scored a massive 20 points in the first 10 minutes after the restart and took a 15-point lead.
Narwal and Gill both crossed their Super 10s while Goyat did the same for Pune.

Inamdar made a three-figure super raid in the 12th minute of the second half to make a comeback.
But the Pune defenders were spending a night to forget Gill with easy points picking up.

Despite best efforts from Inamdar and Goyat, Pune could not close the gap as Yoddha secured a valuable victory.

In another match, defending champion Bengal Warriors defeated Telugu Titans 28-27.

In a low-scoring affair, the two teams exchanged the lead with the defenses at the top.

Bengal captain Maninder Singh scored a Super 10 but Warriors defenders showed composure to secure the last minute win.

Telugu Titans wondered what they need to do to win Season 8.

His raider Rajneesh once again secured a Super 10 (11 points), but an ‘all out’ in the last minute cost him dearly.
