Plane taking off from Dubai with 150 passengers on board catches fire after taking off from Kathmandu

by india today news deskA Dubai-bound plane with over 150 people on board caught fire in one of its engines soon after take-off from Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.

Flames were visible from one of the engines of the Dubai-bound flight shortly after departure from the airport in Kathmandu.

News agency PTI reported that over 150 people, including 50 Nepalese passengers, are on board.

It was initially reported by PTI that the plane was trying to land at the airport and fire engines were put on alert. But, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal said in a statement that the FlyDubai flight is currently proceeding to its destination, indicating that one of the engines is working.

“Dubai flight 576 flying from Kathmandu to Dubai is now normal and is proceeding to its destination Dubai, as per flight plan. Kathmandu airport operations are normal,” it said.
