Goa is loved for its beauty, heritage, beaches, nightlife and everything else, which makes it a top tourist destination in India. If you are planning to visit the state any time soon, we bring you the top destinations to bring you the best experiences it has to offer.

  1. Sea shore: We know that it goes without saying that one has to visit beaches while in Goa, but two very popular beaches of the state are Palolem and Colva beach. Tourists are sure to spend a day on this crescent-shaped stretch of white sand that overlooks the Arabian Sea in South Goa. From kayaking, yoga classes, dolphin-sightseeing and swimming, you can even spend nights in Palolem’s rustic cocoa huts. Colva Beach has wavy palms and a wide stretch of bronze sand. Butterfly Beach, Agonda Beach and Utorda Beach are some other popular beaches in Goa.
  2. Basilica de Bom Jesus: Many people consider a trip to Goa a pilgrimage to important religious sites such as the Basilica de Bom Jesus. This Old Goa attraction dates back to the late 16th century and is believed to contain the remains of St. Francis Xavier. Since 1999, the basilica has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  3. Dudhsagar Falls: Aquatic adventures go beyond the beaches in Goa, as it also houses the Dudhsagar Falls. It is a spectacular four-tiered waterfall that rises about 310 meters above the earth, and is one of the tallest waterfalls in India and a popular attraction for day trips.
  4. Anjuna Market: Returning from Goa without a souvenir is not acceptable. Goa is home to a ton of markets, but nothing can match the vibrancy or selection of products found at Anjuna Market. Hundreds of vendors have been setting up shop every Wednesday at Anjuna Beach selling hippie-inspired trinkets and souvenirs for more than 50 years.
  5. Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception: Travel to the capital, Panaji, to visit The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, one of the historic churches in Goa. The pristine white church stands atop a craggy staircase that looks like tiers of a wedding cake. It has perfectly symmetrical Portuguese baroque architecture and looks like something out of a fairy tale.
  6. Mahadev Temple: The Mahadev Temple, located just 12 km north of Molem, has stood on the ground since the 12th century. The temple’s remote location helped it survive centuries of conquest by Portuguese and Muslim colonists. Legend has it that the black basalt temple has a resident king cobra.
  7. Palacio do Deo: The more than 200-year-old palace in Quepem has been well maintained and restored to its original glory. It represents a fine example of a blend of Indian and Portuguese architecture. Tourists can explore the heritage home, including its game room and library full of rare tombs.
  8. Braganza House: If the Palacio do Deo has you excited, check out what a house in Goa looked like during the 17th century at Braganza House. It is a historical haveli situated at the village square in Chandor.
  9. Saturday Night Market: Saturday Night Market is one of the best markets in Goa. Flea markets are an integral part of Goa tourism, and among them, the Saturday Night Market in Arpora is the biggest attraction as it draws huge crowds.
