(The headlamp of the TVS Raider looks quirky and can get polarizing opinions, but the rest of the design especially likes the raised fuel tank)

professionals

  1. TVS Raider is a good looking motorcycle. And considering the segment it sits in, it is probably one of the more stylish, premium and sporty looking products in its class. The overall design with a sculpted fuel tank along with sharp creases adds muscle to the design, and looks more in line with the styling of 150cc motorcycles as compared to the 125. The Raider is available in four different colors – Fairy Yellow, Striking. Red, bright blue and wicked black.
  2. The Raider is powered by an all-new 124.8 cc, air- and oil-cooled, three-valve engine that produces 11.2 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The 0 to 60 kmph speed is claimed in 5.9 seconds.

(The LCD screen is loaded with information and well placed. TVS SmartXonect will also feature a TFT screen on a higher variant with Bluetooth functionality)

  3. The bike also gets two riding modes, Eco and Power, with the power mode said to deliver 10 percent more power at the top-end. The instrument console is a negative LCD screen with a long list of read-outs, including three trip meters, distance to empty indicator, integrated starter generator indicator and average speed recorder. The bike also gets a side-stand cut-off switch as a safety feature. Bluetooth connectivity with TVS SmartXonnect system is provided on the top-spec variant, which will get a TFT screen.

(TVS Raider 125 comes with a well-packaged offering that will pleasantly surprise the buyers with its performance)

  4. The TVS Raider enjoys a fairly straight riding posture, but the footpegs are slightly at the rear, offering a sporty yet comfortable riding position. The split seat design provides a wide surface area, and looks great, while providing good comfort for both the rider and the pillion. The wide handlebar provides good leverage in handling along with comfort.

Shortcoming

(The braking is a bit tricky on the Raider and the rear suspension feels a bit unstable if one is taking good speed in a corner)

  1. The quality of the plastic on the TVS Raider leaves little to be desired. While they are decent, they could have been even better.
  2. The braking on the raider is a bit comfortable, missing the expected byte. The motorcycle also doesn’t get ABS, though it does offer a combined braking system or CBS. The rear suspension feels a bit bouncy if you take enough speed into a corner, but it’s actually more nitpicking.
  3. The design of the TVS Raider is really cool, but for some of the conventional 125cc customers, it might seem a bit too busy or over the top. Of course the design is based on individual point of view.
