Plumber goes viral, thanks to his ‘no charge’ bill for 91-year-old

After one of his job receipts went viral, a plumber in the British city of Burnley became an internet sensation. James Anderson, originally from Liverpool, has been praised for sending a £0 bill to a 91-year-old woman with leukemia.

The woman’s daughter, Christine Rowlands, first shared the bill on Facebook with this message: “No charge for this woman under any circumstances. We will be available 24 hours a day to help and keep her as comfortable as possible.”

This isn’t Anderson’s first act of kindness. He is said to have helped and benefitted thousands of people since turning his plumbing company into a community project for the underprivileged.

He says he was inspired to start his own firm, Defer, after another engineer in the area saw another elderly man “molesting” him.

In a phone interview with CNN, Anderson said, “It got me thinking about other elderly and vulnerable people – we need to do something more to help those who need it most. “

“Many elderly and disabled people don’t like to ask for help and if they can’t do something like fix a boiler, they can’t do it and get in trouble. We’re here to address that concern. “

He thinks that by reducing costs, people will be able to use the money saved in other life roles, allowing them to maintain their independence.

Anderson said that he could not always offer free service due to budget constraints. She was described as an “angel dressed as a plumber” by Rowlands, the 91-year-old woman he assisted.

She said that she had met him when her mother’s boiler broke down and they wanted it to be fixed quickly at a low cost. “James is an absolute star, it’s great to see it cost nothing,” she told CNN.

According to the plumber, the work he does for the elderly and the weak bears fruit. Simply put, it makes him feel good inside.
