Virtually participating in the G20 Extraordinary Summit on Afghanistan, the Prime Minister welcomed the initiative of the Italian G20 Presidency in convening a meeting to take stock of the current situation in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to ensure that the soil of Afghanistan does not become a source of radicalization and terrorism at the regional or global level.
They stressed the need to enhance the global joint fight against radicalization, terrorism and nexus of narcotics and arms trafficking in the region.
Speaking at the summit, PM Modi Called for an inclusive administration in Afghanistan to preserve the socio-economic gains of the past 20 years and restrict the spread of radical ideology.
He said the international community needs to ensure that humanitarian aid to Afghanistan has immediate and unhindered access.
He also reiterated his support for the important role of United Nations Calls for new G20 support in Afghanistan and for the message it contains United Nations Security Council resolution 2593 on Afghanistan.
Talking about India’s relations with the war-torn country, he said that both the nations share age-old people-to-people ties.
He also mentioned that over the past two decades, India has contributed in promoting the socio-economic development and capacity building of youth and women in Afghanistan.
