PM Modi greets Eid-ul-Fitr with a message of solidarity

New Delhi Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to Europe, extended his best wishes on the completion of the holy month of Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Ramadan is celebrated to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. Ramadan is also the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which includes about 30 days of rigorous fasting.

During this month, practicing muslims Do not consume food or water from morning till evening. They eat Sehri (the meal before dawn) and break their day long fast in the evening with ‘Iftar’.

The festival is celebrated by sharing a delightful delicacy sevaiyan (vermicelli) which comes under different varieties like hand sevaiyan, salt ka sevaiyan, chakla ka sevaiyan and laddu sevaiyan. All these variants can be used in a dish called shirkurma, which is also prepared on Eid and distributed among friends and relatives.
