PM Modi inaugurates renovated Shankaracharya Samadhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offered prayers at the Shiva temple in Kedarnath and unveiled a 12-foot statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya at the seer’s samadhi.

According to the PMO, in Kedarnath, the Prime Minister reviewed and inspected major infrastructure projects, including Saraswati Retaining Wall Asthapath and Ghat, Mandakini Retaining Wall Asthapath, Tirtha Purohit House and Garuda Chatti Bridge over Mandakini River. The projects have been completed at a cost of over ₹130 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of several projects worth over Rs 180 crore.

“The destruction of this place [Kedarnath] Seen years ago was unimaginable. People who come here wondered whether our Kedar Dham would be renovated,” Mr Modi said after reviewing the projects.

“But my inner voice said it would be redeveloped with renewed glory,” he said.

He said that there was a time when spirituality and religion were linked only by stereotypes, although Indian philosophy talks of human welfare and looks at life as a whole, he said that Adi Shankaracharya had made the society aware of this truth. Work done.

Speaking on the various religious infrastructural projects taking place across the country, he said, “Our cultural heritage, centers of faith are being looked upon with worthy and legitimate pride, as they should be. A grand temple of Lord Shri Ram is going to be built in Ayodhya. Ayodhya is regaining its glory.

Addressing the development taking place in and around Kedarnath, Shri Modi said, “The Char Dham road project is progressing rapidly. In future, the devotees will be able to reach Kedarnath via cable car, work has started on this. Well.”

“Plans are also in progress to build a ropeway to make it easier for the devotees to visit Hemkund Sahib,” he said.

Work on the idol of Shankaracharya, weighing around 35 tonnes, started in 2019.

Mr Modi arrived at Dehradun airport in the morning and was received by Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Retd.), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his cabinet colleagues Subodh Uniyal and Ganesh Joshi, besides Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal.

Kedarpuri Reconstruction is considered to be the Prime Minister’s dream project whose progress is personally reviewed at regular intervals.

The Prime Minister also appreciated the discipline shown by Uttarakhand in the fight against COVID-19. “Today, Uttarakhand and its people have achieved the target of 100% single dose vaccination, overcoming the geographical difficulties. This is the strength and power of Uttarakhand,” he said.
