PM Modi lays foundation stone, inaugurates development projects in Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 19 laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various developmental projects related to irrigation, drinking water besides a National Highway Development Project at Kodekal in this district.

The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Bhagwant Khuba, several state cabinet ministers, legislators and officials.

With the objective of providing safe and adequate drinking water to all households through individual household tap connections, Shri Modi laid the foundation stone of Yadgir Multi-Village Drinking Water Supply Scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission at Kodekal. Along with this, 117 MLD water treatment plant will be built under the scheme.

The project, costing over ₹2,050 crore, will provide potable water to over 700 rural habitations and about 2.3 lakh households in three towns of Yadgir district.

During the event, the PM also inaugurated the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal – Extension Renovation and Modernization Project (NLBC – ERM).

The project with a canal capacity of 10,000 cusecs can irrigate 4.5 lakh hectares of command area. More than three lakh farmers of 560 villages in Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Vijayapura districts will get its benefits. The total cost of the project is approximately ₹4,700 crore.

He also laid the foundation stone of 65.5 km stretch of NH-150C. This 6-lane greenfield road project is part of the Surat-Chennai Expressway. It is being built at a cost of around Rs 2,000 crore.
