PM Modi meets India’s 2022 contingent of Commonwealth Games at their residence

To honor and acknowledge the hard work of Commonwealth Games medalists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the Commonwealth Games athletes at his official residence. The Prime Minister met him for the first time and interacted with him personally.

He congratulated all the medal winners and said that this is the golden period of Indian sports. The Prime Minister further felicitated the players and lauded the excellent performance of the Indian contingent. In the Commonwealth Games, the Indian team made a comeback with 61 medals.

“The real assessment of this performance cannot be done with just the number of medals our athletes competed neck-to-neck. There may be a difference of 1 or 1 cm but we will make it through, believe me.

It is just the beginning and we are not going to sit still, the golden era of Indian sports is knocking at the door. We have a responsibility to create a sporting system that is one of the best in the world, inclusive, diverse and dynamic. No talent should be spared as they are all assets”, Prime Minister Modi said.

The Indian team performed extremely well and exceeded all expectations in the multi-nation sporting event. India completely dominated the badminton, wrestling and weightlifting events. Along with this, the Indian team also performed well in Athletics, Judo and Lawn Bowl and won the first medal for India. Other than this, Harmanpreet KaurThe led team also won a silver medal in women’s T20 cricket which was introduced at the Commonwealth Games.

Modi said, “Under Harmanpreet’s leadership, India has performed brilliantly in cricket. All the players have done well, but no one can resist Renuka’s swing bowling. To be the top wicket-taker among the greats.” Not a small achievement.” ,

Most of the Commonwealth Games returnees, including wrestlers, weightlifters, boxers, shuttlers and table-tennis players, participated in the felicitation event. Modi also congratulated the chess players who competed and won medals in the Olympiads held in Chennai.
